About

Greetings,
My name is Shayla Bullock, I currently serve as a youth pastor at Peace and Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. Welcome to Everyday Cross Living Blog. God has laid it upon my heart to start this blog. As a wife and mother of three children, I know how busy, overwhelming, and stressful life can become. However, in spite of all the to-do-lists, responsibilities, tasks, and chores we have to attend to; Jesus has specific intentions, for us, as His followers. We are to bear our cross and follow Him!

Not only are we suppose to bear our cross, we are instructed to bear our cross daily! Not yearly, monthly, every now and then, but daily. Jesus declares in Luke 9:23, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

It is my prayer that this blog will aid and serve as a gentle reminder to daily bear your cross and follow Him! There are days your cross may be small and light; other days your cross may be bigger and heavier. Sometimes you may be tempted to look and compare the crosses that others are carrying. Instead focus on your cross, the cross God has chosen for you to bear!

Your cross for the day may be simply calling that friend to offer an encouraging word of kindness; extending great patience to your child; or allowing your light to continue to shine at work in the midst of chaos. The cross assigned to you for this season might be much bigger. It could involve navigating sickness; continuing to extend love in a broken marriage; or praying fervently for a wayward child.

Regardless of how difficult bearing your cross seems, look to Jesus. He set the perfect example of cross bearing. He bore a cross greater than we could ever imagine, and He did it perfectly!

Thank you Jesus for the cross; and thank you for visiting Everyday Cross Living. I hope you will follow this blog and become intentional or maintain your intentionality in bearing your cross daily.

Blessings,
Shayla Bullock
